What is Short Term Accommodation?

Kurrajong’s Short Term Accommodation provides you with a home away from home where you can have a break away from your regular residence while making friends and learning new independence skills.

Under NDIS, what was once known as respite is now called Short-Term Accommodation (STA).

STA offers short-term breaks for families or carers of children and adults with a disability to help support and maintain their caregiving relationships.

Parents and carers often have little time for themselves to maintain their own interests, health and relationships. Planned STA gives families that all-important break.

Short Term Accommodation is available to anyone with an intellectual disability over 8 years of age.

Your NDIS funding can allow for up to 28 days a year in STA. You might choose to stay a few weekends a year, for a week or overnight.
