The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding to people living with a disability. You might self-manage your NDIS plan, or work with a support service like Kurrajong to organise your providers.
Your ‘NDIS plan’ refers to your individual budget, which can be allocated across three areas of disability support:
- Capital – including assistive technologies, equipment, or home and vehicle modifications, to help you with your everyday life.
- Capacity building – including support with developing the skills you need to live the life you want, such as education opportunities, social activities, and employment support.
- Core – including support services for day-to-day activities so you can take part, socially and economically, in your community.
Each year you’ll meet with a local area coordinator (LAC) from the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to discuss how you’re tracking with your goals, and how your budgets are being allocated across these three areas. Kurrajong can support you throughout the entire process, from pre-planning to service delivery.
Most importantly, the NDIS gives you control and choice over how, when and where you access support as well as the certainty and security that you will receive the support you need over your lifetime.
