What are Employment Preparation supports?

Finding a job, transitioning from school to adult life, or changing careers can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to navigate it alone. At Kurrajong, we offer tailored NDIS employment support that helps people with disability build real-world job skills, gain confidence, and take meaningful steps toward employment. Whether you’re a school leaver just starting your journey or an adult exploring new opportunities, our team is here to support you every step of the way.

We take the time to get to know you—and your support network—so we can understand your goals and provide the right support to help you succeed. You can access Employment Preparation support at any adult age, or join our Youth Employment Assistance program for up to two years after finishing school. Both options include access to hands-on Workplace Experience in the community to help you build independence, discover your strengths, and prepare for work in a way that’s tailored to you.

The transition from school to adulthood can be both exciting and overwhelming, especially when it comes to finding a job. At Kurrajong, we support young people with disabilities and their families in navigating this important life stage with confidence.

Our Youth Employment Assistance program focuses on personalised support. We work closely with both the young person and their support network to set clear employment goals and build a practical, achievable plan.

A key part of the program is voluntary work experience. We help participants explore different industries through placements with local employers, gaining hands-on experience, discovering their interests, and developing job-ready skills along the way.

With regular check-ins and tailored guidance, we’re here to help you build confidence, grow independence, and take positive steps towards your employment future.

Through the Youth Employment Assistance program, you will learn:

  • Employability Skills

Punctuality, acceptable workplace behaviour, personal presentation and resume building skills and interview techniques.

  • Travel Training

Learning about the transport options available, how to travel safely, license training, and carpooling with co-workers. Support in obtaining your license

  • Workplace Skills

Teamwork, the importance of communication, workplace health and safety. First Aid, White Card, practical skills, taking orders, handling cash, using the register, interacting with customers, serving customers using a coffee machine, table service.
