Meet Scott Lea
Scott Lea leads a busy life. Take one look at his diary and you’ll see it filled with activities each week day.
From going bowling with his friends to playing pool at the pub; woodwork with Lifestyle Choices to volunteering at Bunnings, Scott is passionate about life and about doing things he chooses.
Scott attends art classes with Kurrajong and while he has a love of drawing, he has also turned his hand to creating with paint, mosaic, wire and concrete.
He has created artworks for the Art to Crow About exhibition and Lockhart’s Spirit of the Land Festival, and his work has won first prize at the Wagga Show.
“Scott loves to bring things home. He has made quite a few chopping boards of all different shapes and sizes and a beautiful little table for his brother,” says his Mum, Lorraine.
How Kurrajong helps Scott:
Relocating from Moulamein to Wagga Wagga to access Kurrajong services when Scott was young, Lorraine said that everything he has been able to achieve has been supported by Kurrajong.
“It's been amazing. Amazing support from everybody here.”
Scott’s NDIS plan includes short term respite for Lorraine and makes it possible for Scott to get out and do the things he loves with one-on-one support.
“The one-on-one support Scotty receives is great. It's the bit that makes him feel more important, doing things by himself.”
Lorraine Lea on Kurrajong: Art gives him a way of expressing himself. It’s just another thing to enjoy.
Kurrajong on Scott: What's been great about the NDIS is that Scott now has opportunities to get one-on-one support to do things like the woodwork and art sessions.
